The Day My Life Changed Forever

Friday October 28, 2011

On October 28, 2011 I officially became engaged to Sarah Luscher, the most beautiful and most amazing girl in this universe. I can't even begin to describe how amazing and special she is. Our relationship has been special and guided by the Lord since the very beginning. Like I said earlier, the Lord had another plan for Sarah and I from the beginning. He has blessed my life countless times growing up, but this is the greatest blessing to ever come into my life! I love Sarah eternally and nothing will ever come between us. I have known that I was going to marry Sarah since about the end of July. Since that time, my love for her has grown immensely and so has my desire to marry her.

As a kid growing up, I always had the perfect girl that I wanted to marry in my head. As I started to date seriously, I found many girls close to that girl but none of them were exactly what I wanted. I started to think that maybe this perfect girl didn't exist and I would just have to give up a few personality traits I wanted in a wife. But the Lord knew exactly where my soul mate was and He made sure our paths crossed. I am so grateful for the wonderful and eternal blessing that Sarah is in my life. She truly is my soul mate. She has surpassed all my expectations I have ever wanted in my wife and I love her with all my heart.

This entire time we have been dating long distance since she is from Canada and I am at school in Rexburg. Thanks to Skype we have been able to make video calls each night and talk as we have from the beginning. Although it is hard being away from the love of my life, I understand that it is best if she is home and able to work. Since if she were in the US she would not be allowed to work since she doesn't have a visa. (thats another story)

The weekend of Halloween 2011, Sarah's sister Nicole had an ice hockey tournament with her team in Boise. Sarah and I had decided it would be lots of fun if we went to her games that weekend, and it gave us an excuse to see each other. She drove down from Canada and I drove over from Rexburg. We both arrived at my house in Eagle Thursday night. I had previously bought the ring which I knew was the one and she had a feeling that it was going to come this weekend, but she didn't know that the very next day, Friday, was going to be the day that changed our lives for the best!

That morning we set out to go on a hike in the foothills outside of Boise. I knew I was going to propose on the hike, but I hadn't planned out anymore than that. My plan was to just have the ring and I would go with the flow and feel it out. I knew she was expecting it sometime and so I decided that before I officially asked I was going to have a little joke with her. As we continued to hike we got to the top of the foothills. I was both very nervous and very excited. I stopped her and pulled her in real close and started telling her how much I loved her and how much I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I then preceded to get down on one knee. She immediately stepped back and started tearing up... but I was going to tease her first. I got down on one knee and I found this twig and I looked back up to her and said "Babe, this stick tells us that winter is coming." I then stood back up and walked away smiling. Now I know what ya'll are thinking. Thats so mean. But don't worry. The story will end on a very high note because a minute later after she got done laughing and hitting me for that joke, I pulled her back in and got down on my knee again and I made the easiest and most confident decision I have ever made in my life. I asked the girl of my dreams, my best friend and my eternal soul mate Sarah Luscher to marry me. She said YES!  as we embraced and kissed and I placed the ring on her finger. I am truly the luckiest guy in this world to end up with such a gorgeous and amazing girl for eternity!
